Protection of Privacy

The St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton (“SJHH”) St. Joe’s Navigator respects the privacy of its users. We are committed to protecting your privacy and the confidentiality of your personal information and personal health information.

Collection and Use of Personal Information

The St. Joe’s Navigator includes the process for signing up for a Secure Health Account. It requires providing first and last name, date of birth, health card number and version code. All individuals, or their authorized legal representative, must sign up for their own Secure Health Account. You may not create an account on behalf of another adult, capable individual. Participation is entirely voluntary. Creating a Secure Health Account is not a condition of seeking or receiving healthcare services.. The sole purpose for collecting and using this information is to create your Secure Health Account. The information provided will never be sold or made available to third parties. Your information will be stored and managed securely in accordance with our privacy and information security policies, as required by law. St. Joe’s Navigator uses the camera to allow you to scan QR codes to complete a request for your information started on your desktop browser. No images are saved.

Statistical Analysis

The St. Joe’s Navigator reserves the right to perform statistical analysis of characteristics and uses of the Navigator. The analysis will help measure interest in and use of the various sections of the St. Joe’s Navigator in order to improve design and navigation. Only aggregated data from these analyses, and not identifiable individual data, will be used for this purpose.

Cookies

Users should be aware that certain non-personal information and data may be automatically collected by the St. Joe’s Navigator through the operation of what are called “cookies”. “Cookies” are small text files that identify an individual computers’ and other devices’ browsers entering an application or website. They allow the site to track movement through the website or application over several sessions. Through cookies, a website or application can recognize repeat users, facilitate the user’s access to and use of the website or application and allow a site to track usage behaviour that will allow content improvements. The St. Joe’s Navigator uses cookies only for the above-mentioned purposes and will not use them to identify users or to track usage other than on the St. Joe’s Navigator. If you do not want a cookie placed on your device by the St. Joe’s Navigator, you may disable cookies altogether by modifying the “Preferences” section of the application in your settings. Note that it is possible that some aspects of the St. Joe’s Navigator may be unavailable to you if you choose this option.
